Minnesota is a state with strong local democracy, which means whoever serves in county and township government plays a critical role in creating a state where people and the land are put above corporate interests and profits. This is why we’re hosting TWO webinars to learn about the importance of local government in advancing our priorities for people and the land. During each session you will hear from Soil and Water Conservation District and county board elected officials, have a chance to ask questions, and gain an understanding of what goes into running for and serving in local elected positions.
Both sessions will be on Tuesday, May 12: the first from noon to 1:30 p.m., and the second from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.; both sessions will cover the same material. The areas we’ll cover include:
- The levels of elected county and township government.
Why they’re important to Land Stewardship’s work and the future of our air, water, and soil.
Current or former local elected officials talking about their experience running for and serving in local office.
Any questions you ask or topics you raise!
