Part of LSA’s Effort to Move Priorities for People and the Land Forward at the Local Level

WINONA, Minn. — Land Stewardship Action issued the following statement announcing its endorsement of Dale Hadler, running for Winona County Soil and Water Conservation Board District 3.
“We are proud to support Dale in his campaign to represent the people of Winona County. We share a common vision for vibrant, growing rural communities and sustainable agricultural practices. If elected, we look forward to working with him to offer solutions at the local level,” stated Emily Minge, Political Organizer for LSA. “By focusing on local government, LSA aims to build participation and engagement in all levels of government. We know that there is so much power and possibility at the local level of government and we want to foster connections and understanding of how our values can be put into action.”
Dale Hadler is a retired and active community member who has been involved with LSA’s partner organization, LSP, for almost 25 years. He has worked with organic agriculture and urban agriculture, and has experience as a non-operating farmland helping his father maintain communication with their tenant on their farm in Central Illinois until his father chose to sell it. He has also worked as an environmental educator for adults and children.
“I am running for this office because I have always had an interest in agricultural and conservation issues since I was a child. I have extensive experiences in the areas of agriculture and environment and this position gives me a chance to use my experiences in a way that will serve others and hopefully make Winona County a good place to live”, Dale shared with LSA. He went on to say that, “Land Stewardship Action Fund has a proven record of advocating for rural Minnesota in areas of healthcare access, conservation practices and assisting small and medium size family farms, and emerging farmers. It is an honor to be endorsed by an organization that has a proven record of improving the lives of rural Minnesotans.”
To earn Land Stewardship Action’s endorsement, Dale Hadler attended LSA’s local candidate forum to answer questions from the public, completed an SWCD candidate questionnaire, and cleared an internal vetting process with LSA’s Political Committee and Board of Directors.
This year, leading up to the fall elections, Land Stewardship Action is focusing on engaging members, supporting candidates, and building power at local levels of government. This includes elected County Commissioners and Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisors. This is a direct response to feedback from those in LSA’s base, as they feel most directly impacted by local government bodies.
